To request a school tour complete the form below, please first check available dates.
School tours are limited to 60 students per day. Groups larger than 60 students will need to schedule their visit across two separate days.
School tours are offered Tuesdays and Thursdays only.
We look forward to welcoming your students to Rancho Camulos for a memorable day of learning, discovery, and hands-on history!
School Tours at Rancho Camulos Museum
START TIME:
We start our tours at 10 a.m. We ask that you arrive between 9:15 and 9:30 so that students can use the restroom and have time for a snack if they bring one. We can begin earlier if requested.
PRICE:
$7 per student
$5 per chaperoning parent
No charge for teachers or aides
STRUCTURE OF THE DAY:
The children are divided into groups and rotate through stations. At the stations they make a tortilla, do laundry, make an adobe brick, learn about Californio history, and visit other historic buildings such as the chapel, and the carriage house. After the rotations, everyone comes together in our schoolhouse to do a reader’s theater play.
LUNCH:
Students bring their own lunch, which they can eat on our lawn area.
GIFT SHOP:
Students are invited to visit our gift shop where we have moderately priced items. Please let us know if you do not want students to visit the gift shop.
END OF DAY:
We are usually done with all (including lunch) by 1:00 or 1:15 but can go shorter or longer depending on your schedule.
